Are we nearly there?

Ah, those four familiar words! Well, the good news this month is that the  A30 summer bottleneck on Bodmin Moor will soon be a thing of the past, so your answer to that oft tricky question can be a much more confident ‘Yes, you little darlings, we are’. The green light for the 60 million pound scheme, given by the Department of Transport, was met with cheers up and down the country.  And whilst we’re on the topic of the sometimes epic car journey to and from Trevornick, how about the falling fuel price then? That’s made us smile too. More pennies in the holiday fund – how will you spend yours?

Cycling, of course, is even cheaper so do consider bringing the family bikes if you have the means. Cornwall has many cycle routes, and pedalling along the Camel Trail to Padstow makes for a grand day out. Fish and chips always taste better when you’ve worked up an appetite with fresh air and exercise.

And just to go back to the dualling of the A30 for a moment – can you believe that delays on this 5km stretch of road at Temple currently cost over £10m a year in lost time alone? How they come up with figures like that we have no idea, but we do know that the improvement will play an important role in the future prosperity of Cornwall by encouraging economic growth, aiding regeneration and business expansion and supporting tourism.

Safe journeys, all!
