Life is better ‘ Down By The Sea’

Soak up the nostalgia of beach days gone by at the Down By The Sea festival, which is taking place at Holywell Bay 2-4th September. DBTS is a unique and quirky vibrant vintage festival which will take visitors back in time to the early to 1920s through to the 40s and 60s, celebrating the marvellous style of the British seaside.

This 2-day weekend festival is chocked full of nostalgic activities from original surf riding with wooden boards, picnics with wonderful wicker baskets, beer tents and classic cars, not to mention strumming ukuleles, a vintage coach to the beach, Lindy Hop and Swing dancing lessons plus vintage hair and makeup workshops. In addition, there will be a Sunday morning Vintage and Surf Jumble so reminiscent of that era.

The fun kicks off in the Farm Club at Trevornick on Saturday morning at 10am with an array of vintage and surf stalls and in the evening, the Bellyboard Club’s Best Board contest will be held. On Sunday morning, classic cars will start arriving at Trevornick from 8am and from noon, visitors can indulge in picnics at the park and take part in the World Picnic Awards while having fun creating traditional style picnics and taking the time to savour the simple pleasures sharing good quality food and drink in the great outdoors!

Throughout the weekend there will also be screenings of nostalgic seaside films in the Farm Club, With all this going on, there is no reason not to come along, kick back and enjoy a weekend by the sea celebrating a stylish look back at our seaside heritage.
